Hey, y'all!

I'm Talya! By day, I am a corporate communications specialist; writing, editing and creating a variety of communications for employees and clients. But by night, I get to do another kind of creating: photography, photo editing, and graphic design.

When I'm not doing that I can be found with my nose in a book, hiking a new or favorite trail, or spending time with friends and family.

My Story

Photography is my passion and the outdoors my refuge. Put them together and I’m one happy girl. This is where my journey began.

20 years ago, I picked up my first camera. Today, I rarely put one down. I explore to create. To tell stories. To share experiences. To bring others the same feelings of peace and joy a walk through nature or a drive through the countryside brings to me. Whether it’s my DSLR riding shotgun down a gravel road or tucked into my hiking pack, or the one on my phone in my pocket, I carry my passion with me everywhere. After all, you never know when inspiration or opportunity will strike.

Over the years, my knowledge of photography has grown, as has my love for mastering the artistic side. Modern photo editing allows photographers to be artists and creators. We can take a photo and make it as simple or complex as our hearts desire. And we can take your photo and remaster it into whatever your heart desires.

In 2021, I went back to school to obtain my Masters in Brand Communication from Drake University. It was during this time I was reintroduced to graphic design. The renewed desire to create digital art sparked an array of ideas from wall art to shirt designs to photo manipulations. By being challenged to experiment with a variety of techniques, I also honed in my Photoshop editing skills.

So, when a wedding photographer friend reached out with a specific editing request for a photo from one of her engagement sessions, I jumped at the opportunity, When I sent it back to her, I immediately asked if she would keep me in mind for more of these requests in the future. I love to be out in nature, taking photos; it soothes my soul. But the challenge that comes with an editing request, and the pride of being able to put a smile on a client’s face, makes every hour spent zooming in and out on each detail worth it.

As I continue to grow Rural Route T Photography & Design, I'm looking forward to expanding my offerings, my network, and my love for turning moments into memories.

See something in a gallery you would love to have hanging on your wall, for use on your website, or on another medium? Let's talk. Send me an email or message me on Instagram or Facebook with a description of the image(s) or design(s) you're interested in, and size, if applicable, and I can provide information regarding pricing. Don't see exactly what you're looking for? Message me anyway. There's a chance I have it in an archive, just not in this gallery. And, if not, I'm always up for a challenge. It will give me an opportunity to look for new places to photograph and new designs to create; let's see what we can work out.
